Sour Grapes

featured image

I wrote Sour Grapes the day after quitting a job. I was feeling a bit out of control and wasn’t sure what the future would hold for me. I was also having issues in a relationship.

I need to think things through.
I need a day or two.
I need a second or two.
One, two.

I used to be a boss
Now I’m just a follower
I used to be a leader
Now I’m just a borrower
Sour grapes.
I used to be the best
Now I’m really not
I was dispossessed
I missed my shot
Sour grapes.
Don’t take
Don’t take your love away.
Don’t break
Our portrait on display.
Me and You
One, two!

“You can’t hurry love
Oh you’ll just have to wait.
They say love don’t come easy
It’s a game of give and take” X2

It’s a game of give—
Don’t take!
Don’t take your love away.
Don’t break
Our portrait on display.
Me and You
One, two!

I used to be a boss
Now I’m just a follower
I used to be a leader
Now I’m just a borrower
I used to be the best
Now I’m really not
I was dispossessed
I missed my shot

I used to be a boss
Now I’m just a follower
I used to be a leader
Now I’m just a borrower
Sour grapes.
I used to be the best
Now I’m really not
I was dispossessed
I missed my shot
Sour grapes. X3

Pretentious

featured image

“I wrote “Pretentious” about a girl I met in Philly. She seemed great at first, but as time went on I realized she was extremely pretentious. Ugh!”

You’re a human being with feelings
But you act like you don’t have the capacity
To care.
Said before the day you were born your daddy
Was a millionaire.
Well,

You’re so fucking pretentious.
Ugh makes me sick
You treat me like shit ‘cuz it makes you feel cool
Well,
You are a bitch
I was your
Fool.

Your friends
Your friends are the worst
Their black aura’s clouded my head.
I couldn’t think – I couldn’t breathe.
Black sheep.
I keep downing drink after drink
‘Cuz I don’t want to be here with you right now.

You’re so fucking pretentious.
Ugh makes me sick
You treat me like shit ‘cuz it makes you feel cool
Well,
You are a bitch
I’m not your
Fool.
I’m not your fool.

Our first real date
We sat along the water’s side.
Don’t remember what we talked about
But I remember looking into your eyes.
Dazed thinking wow she’s great
Wow she’s beautiful.
But that beauty has faded
My dear. Because

You’re so fucking pretentious.
Ugh makes me sick
You treat me like shit ‘cuz it makes you feel cool
Well,
You are a bitch
I was your
Fool.
I’m not your fool.

“You’re a rich girl
But its gone too far
‘Cuz you know it don’t matter anyway.
You can rely on your old man’s money” X2
“It’s a bitch girl
But it’s gone too far
‘Cuz you know it don’t matter anyway.
Say money money won’t get you too far.
Say money money wont get you too far.” X2

Omaha

featured image

“I wrote Omaha after I was ditched last minute by an actor.”

She’s an actor
And she acts like one.
She’s an actor
Yeah she acts like one.
Said she needs me
Now we’re done.
Said she needs me
Now she’s on the run.

She said she’s call me
But there’s no payphones in Omaha.
Said she’d call me
But there’s no payphones in Nebraska.
Sayin’ why don’t you,
Why don’t you want me?
Like I want you.

She’s an actor
Behaves in a way
She’s never the same, never the same.
And I’m free-fallin’
From inanimate objects
Yeah I’m goin’ insane.

She said she’s call me
But there’s no payphones in Omaha.
Said she’d call me
But there’s no payphones in Nebraska.
Sayin’ why don’t you,
Why don’t you want me?
Like I want you.

You can always go back
home is just a day away X3
You can always go back
You know that
Home is just a day away.

She said she’s call me
But there’s no payphones in Omaha.
Said she’d call me
But there’s no payphones in Nebraska.
Sayin’ why don’t you
Why don’t you want me?
Like I want you.
Sayin’ why don’t you
Why don’t you
Call me?
‘Cuz I want you to.
